Good news – one of our rehab patients was released last week! Stix was one of 192 cold stunned green sea turtles our facility cared for this January. Stix was kept on as a rehab patient because he had FP tumors as well as fishing line coming out of his mouth, cloaca, and wrapped around his front right flipper. Unfortunately we had to remove the entangled front flipper, but sea turtles do quite well with only 3 flippers (check out how fast Stix swims during the release video). We also surgically removed all of the tumors on his body (see 3rd photo for what he looked like when he arrived). Stix recovered well from all his surgeries and was privately released by our staff into the Laguna Madre Bay. Live long and prosper, little buddy! #rescue #rehab #release #stix #greenseaturtle #thecutest #littlebuddy
